Music Video Synopsis

When being told that for this unit we would be making a music video I was very excited to get started and to start making it, not only because I am a big fan of music but because with this unit we can work by ourselves which means complete creative control. My idea was to take a simple, fairly new dance track (which normally don't have very many lyrics) and create a music video that is focused on narrative. I wanted to do this as I see it as a challenge, the reason it’s a challenge is because there isn't very many lyrics within songs like this and it would be hard to create a narrative focused music video. Also we have to stick to the artist’s image and again creating a narrative based music video would be hard. Although the lyrics are more or less the same they are well written and will allow me to match the audio with the visuals. For example the chorus is:

I just wanna feel your touch

I never wanna give it up

You can never give me way too much

While I'm by your side

The lyrics as you can see are obviously talking about a girl and a boy meeting each other and the boy wanting to be with this girl and the original music video also backs this up, so within my video I am only really having one character which is the girl, although there will be another character which is the boy he will be behind the camera as I have decided to shoot my video on a hand held camera phone to mix it up a little bit. The reason for this is because I haven't seen many music videos like it and I want mine to fit the artist’s image but also I want my video to be unique. Using an IPhone 5 the quality will still be good quality but filming on a hand held device such as a phone gives a certain feel to the video and this is what I want. The general narrative of the video is going to be boy meets girl, boy tries to be with girl and the boy ends up with the girl. We will follow them both getting ready to meet each other and them both walking out the door, I then want to try something different, instead of using a flash or cut within premiere pro I will point the camera towards the sun to give a flash to white effect. Once doing this the camera will come down from being pointed at the sun and we will be with both characters meeting each other. Within this music video I will be trying out different techniques as I have complete control. Locations that will be used are simple however I don't need anywhere fancy to film, mine and Danielle's house (Danielle will be the playing the girl within my music video) will be used and then the rest in locations like Norwich and Claxton places we live close to. I don't want to over complicate this video as I personally think if you create a simple good looking professional video however still having good ideas etc. It looks better than someone who has tried to have too many things within the video. Also over complicating things also tends to videos not being made as they take too long etc. As said before I want to create a simple but effective music video that is filmed on a camera phone. I want it to look professional and to also be unique being mainly focused on narrative. I feel that even though this will be a challenge, thinking of the idea filming it all and doing all the editing by myself I feel I am up to the challenge and I cannot wait to start and create my idea.
