Research and Planning: Desinging an ESting

What format do you propose to use to create an ESting? (e.g., stop frame techniques - with people/models/objects etc, claymation, time lapse photography, combined formats).

For my ESting I plan to do a live action short, using people. The reason for this is when doing claymation and stop motion within college I found I was able to do live action a lot better and
the end result out of the two the live action came out better than the claymation. The problem with live action is you're very limited to what you can do, where as with claymation you can do absolutely anything and it can also be shot within the college where as a live action ESting may need a location to shoot it. I plan to not only use live action but a small bit of animation as it will be very hard with the few ideas I have to do it with complete live action and no animation.

What will happen in your proposed Esting? Write a very brief narrative summary describing the action.

In my ESting there is going to be one main character, this character will be walking along with an umbrella being 'jolly' swinging the umbrella around as they're in a good mood, they will then accidentally trip and hit into something like a wall or lamppost. Once this has happened a massive E4 logo will fall down from the sky and crush the character. I wanted to keep my idea short and sweet and not try to do anything too fancy as if you plan on doing something very fancy normally it either doesn't work or takes too long and is left incomplete.

In regards to diegesis, where will your animation be set? This relates to the setting and not your shooting locations.

As my animation is quite an easy one to do and doesn't require anything specific from a certain location mine can literally be shot anywhere with a wall or a lamppost. I am probably going to use a wall as it
will then be easier to green screen the huge E4 logo crushing my character. So I can do it on the street or most likely in college which will be the easiest thing to do.

Are there (and do you predict there will be) any limitations or difficulties to face when you produce your ESting? Think about competence, finance, locations, resources and practicality.

I think the biggest limitation is going to be the animation within my Esting, getting a character and an umbrella is easy as I can use friends and an umbrella from home. The hard part is going to be making the large E4 logo crushing my character however I want it to look professional and life like. There shouldn't be any limitations with my location as i'm planning to use somewhere inside college as all I need is a lamppost or wall. Finance should also not be a problem as all I need is one character which can be one of my friends and an umbrella which I can bring in from home. I would only need to green screen in a large E4 logo crushing my character however again I can use college equipment and facilities to do this. As said before the green screening part of ESting is probably going to be the hardest part of the project.

Who is the target audience for you ESting? Think about age, gender and interests/tastes.

As my ESting is going to be made and features teens I would so that my target audience would be teenagers/early 20s both male and female. As my ESting is going to be quite a funny/comedic one I would say that the interests of my target audience would be comedy and just having a good time. Its quite hard to pick a target audience for a 10 second clip however this is what I imagine my target audience to be.
